Does anyone know of any good cordless heated waterers that would work for ducks? It has to be able to survive Wisconsin winters (potentially -40° temps). I'm going need to move my ducks to an area too far from my house and garage to plug in my current heated waterer.
I can’t tell if my duck has some frostbite on her feet or if it's just the color of her feet. I know when she was a duckling she had some black on the webbing but I don't pay close enough attention to her feet to know now.
Does anyone else have a hard time getting their ducks out of their pool at night? Mine are extremely hard to get out of the pool at night when I go to get them in the coop. Would love any advice on how to make this less of a problem
Does anyone filter their ducks' above ground pool? I have one for my ducks, its not huge, but it still takes a while to drain and fill back up. Is it worth it? Where can I find a filter and what's the price range? Anything else I should know about filters?
The screaming is definitely normal, mine do that when I leave (my ducklings hatched May 20 too!!). As far as I know is just means they like you! I use pine shavings in my brooder and haven't had any problems with them eating it. Are they the first ducks you've ever had?
Black east indie ducks are a other bantam breed that could be a good addition to your flock (they're also a very pretty color). However, I don't know of any hatcheries that sell them. You might need to separate your hen from the drakes if they're getting too aggressive. If the female isn't with...
Does anyone have pictures of 4 week old pastel, splash, and white call ducklings? I'm trying to figure out what color my ducklings and can only find pictures of young ducklings or fully feathered ducks.
Call ducks are notoriously hard to hatch. Since they have a very short beak they usually need help hatching. Once they internally pip, I remove the shell around the air cell for them and use a qtip to wet the membrane with vasline. You need to make sure you only remove shell that has detached...
It has not, it will most likely finish hatching later today or some time tomorrow. Other than the beak it seems perfectly fine, it's made the same progress as the rest of the ducklings and is moving around.
One of my call ducklings that's hatching had a deformed beak. The beak is crooked, the tongue is sticking out, and looks too small. It hasn't hatched yet, but what do I need to do to help it once it does?
You can kind of see the tongue sticking out in the picture
I'm wondering why two out of seven of my call duck eggs in the incubator died? I would guess they were somewhere between 8-12 days old when they stopped developing. The rest of the eggs look totally fine and I've hatched two other batches of eggs and no dead embryos. Is it just something that...
My two drakes have been picking on one of my 3 hens. They aren't overmating her but it does look like the feathers on the side of her chest are getting pulled on. They run at her when she gets near and peck at her. I will be getting more ducks to even out my ratio and I ordered a crate for drake...
