Hey everyone i was just wondering if i should be concerned or not. My roosters comb is a little purple at the tips and his upper eyelid is a little swollen. Hes acting normal. Just wondering if this is anything. We had a huge cold snap a few days ago. (I live in Florida so it didn't get frost...
my birds live at my school (FFA club) and i usually raise the chicks at my house and then bring them to the school when they fully feather. i cant bring them back and forth sooner then that.
ok thank you so much! they have been seeing each other since i moved the chicks out when they were about a month old thru the cage. All of my animals are at my school not home (FFA club) so im there every day besides the weekends. Im there after school for a couple hours. the chicks have a "run"...
they are all standard sized breeds. im not sure what is happening. i started them on a start/grower and when they hit 3 months i changed to an all flock feed maybe thats why they are small?
i heard you need to wait till they are the same size as the older birds no? they are only half the size of them. they have a small run outside i put them in and i have started letting them out with the older ones when im there.
ive tried doing bedding but they for some reason always knock into their water making it spill, so the next day its disgusting and gross and i dont have the time and money to be cleaning it every day
I've been using a big dog cage as a brooder for my chicks and just moved the whole thing into the coop with the older birds and I originally had the bottom of the dog cage in there but the chicks are very messy and I'm tired of cleaning it up. Is this fine for them? It will only be for a couple...
my 2 sussex only have wing feathers though, that's why I'm worried they will get cold. I'm also worried snakes could get them because they are so small
Hey guys my chicks are about 2 months now and ready to move out all but my 2 speckled sussex chicks they are all the same age beside the black one (she's about 2 weeks older) it's plenty hot enough during the day but gets cooler at night especially when it rains. What should I do?
Here they all...
I don't know what happened but last night she had a total 180! she's a lot better now and is eating and running around with the others so hopefully she'll be alright!
the brooder is 90f on the hot side and 75f on the cool side! Its a large dog cage so it has plenty of space! I'm feeding them an all flock feed I heard that that's ok for chicks
I posted on here earlier about a 2 week old chick who hasn't grown since I got her and is not doing so well and I think it might be an impacted crop, her crop is tiny and very hard, she's eating a little and drinking and pooping normally but is very sickly looking, sometimes crying, always...
