All 6 silkies have development. One of my BYM, #13 Fennel, also looks promising. The other BYMs and the BCMs are a bit too dark, but I'm going to candle again tomorrow. I could have sworn that I saw something in some of the BCMs.

Ok so I may have gotten a little impatient. Oops. It's very early on day 3, for those of you who are joining late and are curious.
I can see veins in at least 5 of the silkies. Maybe the 6th, but it's so porous that it's hard to tell. #4 and #6 seem very porous, so I'm a little worried about...
I wrapped a towel around the incubator today because both of my control thermometers inside of the incubator were fluctuating quite a bit. One read 97.6° and the other read 100.6°. Now they're both a bit more stable.
I went ahead and added everyone's usernames next to their egg. We still have...
I'll be candling on Friday, day 4. I'm a little wary of a lot of the silkie eggs and some of the marans. They seem to be very porous. I got them from a local person selling hatching eggs and not a verified business so I can't expect perfection.

After they graduate from the chicken hospital, one of them will be sold or culled.
One of my roosters got roughed up pretty badly. His wattle, comb, and the back of his head are bloody and open. I dabbed with warm water and peroxide, squirted saline on it to try and rinse the blood, and put...
It's officially day 1! Incubator is at 100° and around 30% humidity. I'm going for a mostly dry hatch. I'm naming one of the silkies Lavender

How about a silkie Basil and a BCM Clove 😍 my Roosters are both Silver Laced Wyandotte, and I have no idea who the mamas are. I'm guessing either my Rhode Island Reds or my Golden Laced Wyandottes, or a mix of both. Other contenders could be my Black Australorp or that yellow lady in the...
Eggs 1-6 are Silkie eggs, eggs 7-12 are BCM eggs, and 13-15 are my barnyard mixes. I decided to expand the theme from just herbs to herbs and spices/seasonings.
Even if no one participates and everyone watches from the wings, I'm excited and a bit nervous. Eggs are going in now!

The lid is closed completely, yes. I was planning on doing a dry hatch, but when I set the incubator up again to test it, my mini thermometers/hygrometers still said 10% humidity while the incubator itself said 24%. I decided to add a bit of water to Pot A, and now the humidity of the incubator...
I have 6 beautiful Black Copper Marans eggs, 6 silkie eggs, and 3 of my own barnyard mix eggs (silver laced Wyandotte roo, unknown hens). 15 eggs total. Using a brand new Nurture Right 360.
I still have no idea what I'm doing despite doing as much research as I can, so my expectations are low...
I have my NR 360 up and running again (I'm about to throw in my first ever batch of hatching eggs), and the humidity is reading 10% on both of my mini thermometer/hygrometers, but the NR360 says 25%. My home thermostat says it's around 22% in my house so I'm trusting the incubator's numbers. I...
I keep reading that you should always double check your incubator's humidity and temperature because they might be inaccurate. I bought these little meters on Amazon and they had pretty good reviews, but after 4 hours in the incubator (a brand new never used Nurture Right 360), the incubator...
I have a heated base that is supposed to stay around 75° 24/7. The waterer has been freezing every day recently, though. Might as well not even have the heated plate! It's still warm to the touch, but it's not enough to keep the water from freezing.
