I did some searching and ended up giving her a heaping 1/8 of a tsp twice a day. Apparently that should land the dose somewhere on the low end of the range.
I don’t have a way to give it it just her in water without dosing all the others in her pen, so that was the best information I could find.

Just an update- my pullet is still about the same. She does eat and drink well, but is still working on putting back on the weight she lost.
She is on day 5 of amoxicillin now, twice a day.
The scabs got much worse on her comb than pictured before they started to...
Sorry I wasn’t very clear- the reason I’m confused is the amoxicillin package says a dose of”per gallon of water” but since I am only medicating her I am unsure how much to give her individually as a straight dose.
The amoxicillin arrives Thursday, but I am not sure how to dose it. It is a 20% powder. @Eggcessive or @Wyorp Rock any tips for dosing?
With the vitaking respiratory mix (smz-tmp ,tylosin, doxycycline mix) I was doing 1/8 tsp twice a day.
She seems more interested in food today which I’m...
The edges of some of the scabs on her comb and wattles seem to be lifting now. The tissue underneath appears to be very pale, no bleeding.
Not really seeing any changes under her vent yet, though. It’s still pretty yucky.
She does seem to be up and about slightly more. Still pretty dragged...
On the contrary I appreciate how thoroughly you’re trying to help me!
No lesions or weird spots in her mouth/throat. I was using triple antibiotic because the lesions seemed very dry to me, but I stopped that two days ago and switched to silver honey. Should I go back to iodine?
I have her on...
It was 10% providine iodine- Rexall brand. And I also had triple antibiotic I was applying daily as well.
She isn’t separated from the flock - I am hesitant to separate because I don’t have a great option for isolation and she’s very attached to the rooster and one other hen in the flock. But...
I used iodine twice a day for about a week and didn’t see any improvement - I switched to silver honey yesterday in hopes it would help. I did end up giving her a soak and found more scabs at the base of her tail as well, the scabs also look less reddish brown after soaking- I think the color...
I used a “horse fly spray” from Tractor Supply for the mite/lice spray. She had the scabs before I used the spray and they have t changed since using the spray. I actually noticed the couple of potential lice when I was treating the scabs.
She had never been treated for mites or lice before-...
@Eggcessive @Wyorp Rock - I picked her up and she spit up crop contents on me, so I am treating for sour crop with monistat.
She is still slowed down but not lethargic- she seems to be awake most of the time and does walk around a bit. She eats and drinks, but is noticeably losing weight.
The...
Im using permethrin (not sure if that’s the right spelling) for mites/lice. I did see what looked like potential lice last week- not severe just a few bugs (same day I found the additional scabs) and sprayed her then. I sprayed her again two days ago. I am not seeing anything moving around on...
It doesn’t seem completely empty first thing in the morning, but is smaller than it was at night. At bedtime it seems very full, so I have been massaging it as part of her bedtime routine. But it’s still maybe half that size by morning.
@Wyorp Rock @Eggcessive just an update, I have been treating with iodine and antibiotic ointment on all scabs in the evenings and giving antibiotics orally morning and evening. She is about the same, but not worse which is better than nothing I suppose.
I’m not sure how heartily she’s been...
The two eggs in one day would both have hard shells. The first would usually have a heavy white bloom and the second would usually be a bit misshapen- either really pointy on one end or slightly flat on one side. It is like she holds her egg in, then it comes out by accident in weird locations...
I
I am finding more scabs every time I handle her :-( I found some on the skin over her crop that look similar to under her vent, but her wing feathers also seem to be coming out of crusty black follicles. I am stumped and feeling so discouraged.
I did put her on oral antibiotics- all I had...
I am in northwestern Tennessee.
She made one trip to the nest box about 5 days ago and did not lay, which is pretty normal for her- she often sits, doesn’t lay, and then lays two the next day often by “surprise” out in the run or while roosting. But she hasn’t been back to the nest box that I...
I did see a large black feather on the ground of the run yesterday (I only have two black chickens).
She hatched at the end of December - is this age about the time for molting to occur?
These are my first chickens so I am not sure what else to look for with molting!
How do I know if she is egg bound? That area seems a bit puffy but I don’t know what’s normal. She hasn’t laid in 5 days, the last egg she laid was weird. It had a rough dry texture and was light tan ( she normally lays about a 4-5 on the BCM chart).
She will eat some but not like she normally...
