I've found some blood on pullet eggs (new layers) as well as some hens that are coming back from a long winter hiatus! I haven't observed any issues with the ladies, I just imagine it's just a bit uncomfortable for them.

The first thing I do these winter mornings is bring a nice, steaming bucket of warm water out to my ducks who S C R E AM and nosedive into the snow to get away from me. Shortly afterward they happily waddle and bathe in the water without so acknowledging my existence. 👺
