We recently rehomed 2 bantam roosters from our flock - can’t have Roos in my neighborhood, unfortunately.
Ever since the roosters have gone our egg count has gone down from about 6-8 eggs a day to 2-4 per day. Also, our hens seem to be keeping closer to the enclosed coop area rather than...
Ok yay! I just realized a couple weeks ago that the silkie roulette I played this spring ended in roosters which I just rehomed last week. So I was really hoping to be clear of any more Roos this season!
I got both of these Cuckoo Marian’s from a “pullet” box this past spring at my local feed store. Neither have started laying yet or crowing but the one with leg feathers is giving me rooster vibes - thoughts??
Ok, trying to get good side views is difficult but here are some…. I do see streamers on the one and seems taller, her/his name is Arnold. But the other, Carl, doesn’t have them and overall seems more squatty and round in shape…
My daughters thought it would be funny to name them Carl and...
I’m new to silkies and bought these two in early March from a local feed store - they were so cute and fluffy and tiny I couldn’t resist even though they were straight run. Now one has started crowing - it’s not quite as big and loud as our other rooster so I wasn’t sure what I was hearing. And...
Picked up this little bantam from Tractor supply earlier this spring and I’m curious if anyone can help identify her breed. She’s such a pretty little hen but also very anxious…I’m hoping that calms down once she starts laying.
I honestly have no problem with EEs and in fact my older EEs are the sweetest and most social of our current flock plus I love the diverse colored eggs! So yeah, I’m not mad if they’re EEs😊. Just trying to get my facts straight.
Oh that’s fascinating! I’ll have to check her egg shells.
Also, here are 2 chicks I got from a local feed store claiming “blue Ameraucana” - wondering if 2 aren’t also EE…
Ok, so here are some closer pics of my so called “ameraucanas”. My brown roo has those dark slate like legs, but the cream hen has more green-ish slate/olive colored legs. I do also have 1 laying hen that I was also told was ameraucana “Tina” (after Tina turner) and she lays HUGE blue eggs...
Hi! Last week two of our bantams were injured by a raccoon attack. We have isolated them together, applying antibiotic eye ointment on one and wound care spray to both. Also spoon feeding yogurt and soft egg, syringe drop water as needed- sometimes they eat and drink well on their own and...
I got these straight run chicks from tractor supply after a fox attack took 3 of our layers. The bantams are 7 weeks old, the Americaunas are 6 weeks old.
It’s been my thought since about wk3 that the cream-white bantam is a roo. Now I’m thinking my brown americauna may also be a roo...
