Granny's gone and done it again

We both use Diarys - which mostly work - but she has been a bit "off" since the "crash" to the floor. Think it is just stress, but I have been over every 2nd day since - going again in a bit.

We had that - when is that appointment thing - with mum on Saturday. She had me take her to the hospital to have her dressing done - they couldn't find the appointment - oops its not till Sunday. Fortunately it was quiet, so they did it and made an appointment Wed for the next one...

When will flea medication with heartworm preventative ever be sold over the counter?

Ivermectin is also diluted correctly by Vets to treat many birds -finches, budgies, quail.

I need help my quail is walking backwards

A bang on the head that causes that much damage can cause balance problems - though walking backwards is new to me. I have a King Quail hen that panicked and went straight up in a wooden carry cage - only 30cm sq - but the bang was loud. She has been called wobbly ever since - staggers if...

Wild Emus at The Lilly Pilly Tree

Good news that the chicks are there. Could the other missing boys be sitting? Do Emu's do a staggered lay throughout the flock like finches and budgies?

    My Entire Budgie/Parakeet Flock

Do you put them in seperate breeding cages? Or breed them in the avairy by adding nests? They tend to do much better the 1st way as they are not sticking their noses into each others business.

Granny's gone and done it again

Some tenants are wonderful and treat the places OK - some wonder why they get evicted after being constantly late or short with their rent for 3yrs. You don't get that my patience is like a piece of string - it has an end.

Songs that make your skin crawl.

I read a book - can't remember the name or author (some european I had not previously heard of - a habit of mine to grab random books to try occasionally) - it was a great mystery - then in the last 6 pages after the mystery was solved, the author killed off 75% of the Characters - it was so...

Question of the Day - Saturday, August 2nd, 2025

I laughed the minute I saw it. While l am well aware of Penguin moulting, have never seen one at the "Gent in a suit crossed with lady in a fur collar" stage before.

Hens/roos with the funniest or funest names

Mostly don't name mine - with 50+ But the beautiful and gentle Turquoisine parrot hen I had for a short time (rescue bird) was named Prancer because she would Prance up and down. Mum is the same - with 150+ naming is generally restricted to their registration ring Nos - they are show birds. But...

Things you wish you could say

Been there done that with my avairies. Oh so hard to sell off the extra finches. But really those mutations look like they could be so interesting, and really is it so bad that I want to breed every possible combination? Yes well maybe it is. Hmm I think I need a slap too. ;)
