Sounds like you've put a good deal of thought into the pond. Your ducks will be a happy bunch! Not quite a fulltime professional photographer, but working on it. Thank you for your kind comments. Sue, I know what you mean, I could watch the duck follies all day. Some lazy afternoons I...

Frosty, your pond would be around 1100 gallons. I would overmatch the pump, look for something in the 1500 gallon per hour range, submersable, and able to handle solids. Not so much for the duck waste, but for any dirt or debris they would carry in with them. A sump pump is the type I have in...

Thanks! The ducks make great subjects for my photography! Nadine---I wouldn't recommend wild bird seed. try cracked corn from the feed store...ducks love the stuff. Gamebird feed is ideal too. Just don't overdo it ( it can fatten them up quick ). My hen built her nest right next to the...

Thought I'd share some pictures of my ducks. This all started a year ago when I brought home 3 Mallard ducklings from the feed store last May. I blame myself for this addiction, and I find myself sinking deeper into Quack dependency. Last years ducklings turned into this years proud parents...

    Duck incubation running long

I'm on day 29 for duck incubation. 10 viable eggs total, 7 of them hatched 2-3 days early and are doing fine. The remaining 3 are now on day 29, are still showing signs of life but have not broken thru to the air cells, which are quite small. I had a weird temp/humidity fluctuation ( temp...

    Two different temp. readings

Thank you! I think I have it regulated now. I'm going with the digital thermometer. This is my first hatch and I'm trying to do everything I can to get this right. Hoping these Ancona Ducklings have a good shot!

    Two different temp. readings

New to the message board and incubating. This may have been covered in a previous post. Incubating in a LG with turner and fan. Mercury thermometer reads 99....a digital thermometer/hygrometer that I placed in the incubator 2 hours ago reads roughly 5 degrees different ( lower ). Both...
