Help me convince my bf to let me dispatch a sick chicken

I certainly plan on doing a necropsy when she passed. I know its a large mass (baseball sized), so it will be informative to see what it is. I will make a post at that time to let y'all know too.

Help me convince my bf to let me dispatch a sick chicken

We have discussed the vet option too. Its a bit of a hike from us and pricey, but I was willing to go and pay. He isn't big into vets or doctors and was disinterested. He doesn't want me to do it, even though I'm comfortable with it. He wants to be the one to do it, so he wants to make the call...

Help me convince my bf to let me dispatch a sick chicken

The point was to see what others think. I've, personally, never heard from another person with livestock/pet chickens who don't cull incurable animals. So, it is helpful to hear your (and others) perspective(s). There is no power struggle here. Just different perspectives regarding mercy (cull...

Help me convince my bf to let me dispatch a sick chicken

She is justing hanging out with the flock. No one is picking on her. She used to be head chicken, so they still seem to respect her. She was isolated for a period while we administered medication, but after there was no change we let her back out with her friends.

Help me convince my bf to let me dispatch a sick chicken

I have put my foot down and its causing relationship stress and it may cause much more if I just do it without him being on board. That's where I'm stuck. We have had 2 planned "last days" in the last 10 days (after a month of me trying to convince him it's time). Extra free range time, special...

I have a chicken (Juicy) who has been ill for a few months. Her illness has progressed to the point where her mobility is reduced and she can no longer jump or run. She has a large tumor or infection in her lower abdomen. I have tried many homeopathic cures along with broad spectrum antibiotics...

Help please. Strange fleshy balls in droppings.

Yes, the first 3 are from the same droppings. I decided to not treat for cocci and at least monitor every ones droppings closley for a few days. There have been zero other bloody or irregular poops. I am assuming it was one of my new girls who just started laying. Everyone seems healthy and...

Help please. Strange fleshy balls in droppings.

The small balls do look like small undeveloped yolks... Im assuming you're seeing yellow in the last photo? That could be from a different hen then the first few photos. The first pictures are from where the younger hens roost, so I have a good idea of who to watch. The last picture I am not sure.

Help please. Strange fleshy balls in droppings.

I found the strangest chicken poop I've ever seen today. The first few pictures were in the coop, under the roost bar. It appears to be small fleshy spheres in with a regular poo. Its not as thin as regular blood. I didnt think intestinal lining made spheres like this. Is this shedding, cocci...

    Howdy fellow chicken tenders

Hi! I have 12 chickens at the moment. Mixed breeds, half 2.5 years old half 6 months old. I have lurked on this page to get answers and learn for awhile now. I decided to join so I can ask questions or respond to other who need help too. My favorite thing about having chickens is sitting in...
