Help!!! Does anyone know what this lump is protruding from my quail? Warning : semi graphic photos

Thank you. Yes, I have kept her separate, as I replied to another, she’s doing well it seems, the scabs are all healed up. But the mass is still there, and I worry about putting her in with the others, cuz I have no clue what this is. I have a bunch of eggs from her, I guess these would be...

Help!!! Does anyone know what this lump is protruding from my quail? Warning : semi graphic photos

Thank you! No I didn’t think of the google search! I will try that. The general update is, she seems to be doing well. She’s always upbeat, and seems like she isn’t in pain. The scabs have all healed themselves, and it’s just smooth. Looks relatively the same. No smaller unfortunately. But she’s...

Help!!! Does anyone know what this lump is protruding from my quail? Warning : semi graphic photos

Thank you! Yep! She’s running around and having a decent time it looks like. I’ll hold off on the restriction of light, if she does keep up the healing, it will be darker soon for longer as winter approaches and that might happen the natural way. For now, yes, she is on her own. I also have...

Help!!! Does anyone know what this lump is protruding from my quail? Warning : semi graphic photos

Thank you for the advice. Yeah, her vent is all good, she’s doing everything normally. I guess I’m not locking down the light too well, because she’s still laying. I will try a big piece of plywood over the front of the cage, not just the makeshift sheet thing we had going. She seems to be...

Help!!! Does anyone know what this lump is protruding from my quail? Warning : semi graphic photos

Thank you for that advice. We have been keeping it as clean as possible, an epsom salt bath a day. We have the time, and patience, so hopfully she pulls through. Sorry, this may be an uneducated question, but how do i indefinitely stop her from laying? Would it be restricted access from light...

Help!!! Does anyone know what this lump is protruding from my quail? Warning : semi graphic photos

Thank you for the info. I have been thinking about culling, and what she’s going through. But she’s really quite happy and active looking. Unfortunately this is a backyard operation, a vets opinion would be valuable, but I don’t quite have the money to get anything done professionally.

Help!!! Does anyone know what this lump is protruding from my quail? Warning : semi graphic photos

Good evening all, We just started keeping quail, so fairly new to this all. We noticed this lump on the underside of one of our quail, just above her vent, or what I believe to be the vent. I have isolated her and kept her in a darker environment to slow egg production as I was worried she...

QUAIL HELP!!! Prolapsed egg? Not sure how to help her. (Warning: somewhat graphic images to some)

It should be a Coturnix quail. She’s probably a little under a year now. I will get more pictures in the am. She’s been separated and housed indoors for the night. It was soft, and I did try to push it back in, I gently pushed and worked it back in as I read you would do if it was a prolapse...

QUAIL HELP!!! Prolapsed egg? Not sure how to help her. (Warning: somewhat graphic images to some)

She was laying normally 2 days ago, yesterday we didn’t get an egg from her. It is just above the vent (closer the her breast).

QUAIL HELP!!! Prolapsed egg? Not sure how to help her. (Warning: somewhat graphic images to some)

Good evening everyone, This evening we noticed one of our girls has a large somewhat egg sized lump protruding from her bum area. It’s soft, and covered in skin (no egg is visible). I don’t know if she is egg bound, or if this is something else. Please let me know what I should do, if there is...

What animal is tunneling under our coop? Photos

I would agree with it being a Rat. I had similar sized holes being dug under my house. Filled em with spray foam and added 2ftx2ft patio stones all the way around the house, and put some poison traps down. Alternatively a bucket with a flip lid will catch them live, and you can take them to your...

    HELP - Reintroducing quails

Hello again to all, the reintroduction went much better than last time. I just have one further question. The one little quail (female) is still hanging out by herself and doesn’t seem to be integrating with the other three (2 female and 1 male). And unfortunately there was a bit of blood...

    HELP - Reintroducing quails

Thank you all for all your help and advice! We put them all back together again. This time with a very rearranged coop, more food and water stations, and did it at night. They all seemed pretty chill. I’ll get up early and see how they are fairing. Thank you again for the help! Glad to have...

    HELP - Reintroducing quails

Thank you. I’ll make sure more hiding places happen! If they still are at each other, and drawing blood, do you think removing him would be the best move? Maybe until I could find another hen or two. Thank you for all the help!

    HELP - Reintroducing quails

I also would like to ask if anyone has any advice, but what does excessive aggression look like when I am reintroducing them? And how long do I need to watch them for before being confident that they are harmonious. I will reintroduce them all back together at night as suggested, but how long...

    HELP - Reintroducing quails

Thank you so much for your reply. Yes, we definitely don’t need the male, as we are collecting and eating eggs only. We recently moved into a new house, and our neighbours have quail. We have become somewhat close, and when I mentioned always wanting chickens, but can’t cuz we are in the city...

    HELP - Reintroducing quails

Thank you very much for the info. Adding a line of sight would make sense for a slower introduction. Which I think is our preferred way of doing it. I have heard about a “hard reset” by sticking them all in a dark box with air holes, and limited light, for about 20 minutes and then reintroducing...
