Welcome to The Forum! Lots of fun people in here. I do my chicks in the fall I want them on day one no later than the first week of October but I usually try to aim for Mid September I live in New Hampshire so it starts to snow and get below freezing right around Thanksgiving and stays that way...
Wow that full body shot is a gorgeous photo! Also thank you that's exactly what I'm looking for! Hopefully I can collect some more breeds like Pokemon cards 😂😂
As I stated in the post in bold I'm not looking for advice on my chicken's feet. I'm looking for educational materials for research to learn about chickens in general. But thank you! and sorry for the confusion I tried to make it as clear as possible that I didnt need help with my chickens in...
Yeah I figured this was probably going to be the case why would people have pictures of perfectly healthy bottoms of their chickens feet haha usually you're only taking pictures of them if something's wrong which probably explains why I don't get many results on Google either thank you for...
Columbine, Poppy and Lupine are toxic to chickens in varying amounts. I would plant it away from the Run chickens are usually pretty good about not eating things they're not supposed to but better safe than sorry
Totally! I don't struggle with this problem at all I was just giving suggestions to OP and also made sure to say not to overdo it with scratch and scraps for the same reason. My birds do love when I add more bedding to their nest boxes for sure though!
They do look like saddle feathers to me but could be wrong, very handsome though! Ameraucana are known to be pretty docile (i have 4 blue splash ameraucana in my flock and theyre all very laid back) but time will tell once his hormones hit on how he treats you and and the hens. Good luck!
Maybe buy some cheap flexible fencing to put around that area for a while so they can still free range if you want but not screw up your growing grass, I don't know how warm the weather is where you live but if it's seed germinating temperature, grass is usually pretty strongly established after...
Yeah I have some big logs and branches in there that they love and I have a ladder thing that they like too basically like cats just things taller than ghe ground to jump on haha
I do use rain barrel water to wash stuff in the chicken coop but I don't feed or water the chickens with rain barrel water because you don't know what's growing inside the gutters, or what wild birds pooped on the roof and what diseases they have, right now yours are brand new with no problems...
Their favorite activity is scratching through dirt for things so even putting a handful of scratch or treats on the coop floor and then dumping some sand on top of it so they have to search around for it would be great. I fell for the soxial media tactics of the mirror and the cute jingly ball...
