ok. he is much larger than the others and is the dominant rooster in their flock. im considering selling him as well as my excess splash rooster. I have a BA rooster who is showing much more colour and genetic potential as well as a splash rooster who is showing high potential for colour.
I think a rooster. My roos developed wattles at 6 weeks which was how i told them apart from the pullets. However even my pullets didnt have wattles or combs like that at 12 weeks.
definitely a pullet. At 6 weeks my black australorp cockerals started to develop wattles. This lady has none so i would believe that she is a pullet. I know that hens and roosters get wattles the roosters just start developing them much earlier

thanks. all the other four (one other rooster and three hens) have got their sheen though. its not as pronounced as i expect it will be when fully grown but they have it. this rooster however does not.

Just raised my first batch of australorps. Had 5 black and 5 splash. They are now 7 weeks old. I know there is a time to go but they are very friendly ended up with 2 roosters and 3 hens of each type. I also know they are a great egg laying breed from past experience.
