    All breeds are going to need supervision, partly for the children's sake and partly for the chicken's sake. I think more than breed how they are raised has the most effect on personality. I think silkies are very docile birds, and very good with children.

    Any guess on sexes of my Wyandottes?

    They all look like girls to me. I had a pair of wyandottes whose combs were red at 4 or 5 weeks. I posted pics and was told they were roos. They both ended up as girls. I guess they can be a little hard to sex. Your may be a little early to start guessing just yet.

    Most ees have pea combs which are flatter and don't protrude as much as single combs. Congrats on the ee chicks. I bought 3 the other day, then ran back to the store and grabbed 3 more (don't tell my hubby), 2 of which are all white just to see what they look like when they feather out. EEs...

    Midight kills stuff around here too, namely opossums that try to get to my adult chickens. Id be more worried about the wild animals our dogs kill giving them something.
