We have just started our Backyard Chickening and are trying to be sustainable. I have built this chicken coop my self in the back yard. I am pretty much saying hi to everyone and introducing my self. So, Hello everyone!! and this is the coop i built!
Lucky chickens. I don't see ventilation built in at the roof line? Am I missing it? I'm still struggling with draft vs ventilation, ones good, ones bad.
@ Break an Egg thanks! We have 2 Sex Linked and 1 Rhode Island Red, we got them at 6 mo old, the Rhode Island Red has not laid yet, we have had them only 20 days and got almost 2 dozen eggs from the other two
@ cknkids I have a vent in the rear of the coop in back wall, facing the fence so it is out of view (to us) it is mounted almost in the top corner where the roof meets, its a smaller vent but i figured with the windows the do open they owuld get enough air flow and let the heat out in the summer, im in portland or so we dont get the really hot days too often here! i think that based on the research that i did that it really depends on the climate, the roof vent is designed to let heat out, most of the time here i am wanting to keep the heat inside..
