I think moles are beautiful. They are the only mamal with non-directional fur...stroke it in any direction and it lays flat. I found a big, fat dead mole once and took it to a taxidermist who tanned the hide with fur on for me. Would like to make a stuffed mole dressed up like a gardener like...
If mites might be a problem, seems to me that one could sprinkle the carpet with DE, or change it regularly like once a week. If the carpet is just a scrap, those could be free.
Coon got my chickens, so I won't be trying any carpets this winter...will wait until spring to try again.

I don't know how to introduce Guineys, but I had 3 and 9 chickens, all the same age, grew up together, and altyhough the Guineys were hillarious, they went out of theor way (like 20 feet) to go pick on and chase and bully the chickens. Very tasty, in the end. I recommend that you read more...

I assume that snow wont' go through 1/2" hw cloth...what do you do when it snows? I am planning to use an electric fence + Poultry netting since it snows so much here for "over the top of the run" cover.
