That is almost exactly the way I envision my coop coming out. I have many pallets and the wood planks are similar to the style you have on your coop. You have given me a firmer image to follow with my design. Hope you won't mind my use of your style!
I can't stand working with pallets. I used to have to use the to build shelving etc. at a folk festival every summer, and they were SO heavy and bulky I hated it. We had to send them back intact at the end, so I couldn't just "harvest" the wood from it. I'd strap them together with plumbers strap, what a pain! It's nice to see something more elegant to get the bad taste out of my mouth LOL
I have questions about construction - how far apart should the screws/washers be? What size screws/washers? Zinc or stainless or just regular?
Here's a little drawing of my intended construction: 48" tall, 1/2" hw mesh with locust posts and 2"x4" bracing, bottom folded over with an additional 2' chicken wire apron to prevent digging.
Quote: IF I understand this correctly, then the TOP of the waterer is "sealed". Therefore the water is held by the "suction" of the air-pressure at the top of the reservoir?
Otherwise...the water would flow out of the bottom. Correct?
We did our washers/screws about 5" apart after using a staple gun to get the HW cloth and chicken wire all down (but yank on it only a bit and it comes right off!). We ended up using a lot, but we wanted it nice and secure. We can yank on it pretty hard now and it stays on.
