Hi Paul67 and SloCrevs-
I live in Atascadero, but from Los Olivos (born in Santa Barbara). Paul67- where in SB can you have chickens?? Hope Ranch or Montecito?
This morning I went out to check on our five hens. By this time of day they are all out running around. But, one hen was still inside on their perch with her hand down, eyes closed and mucus running down her beak. There seems to be no injury or signs of any trauma. I gave her water and she...
robmcsched - I have an Americauna roo and he's the best! My four year old can pick him up and tote him around. He's also great at protecting his hens! We did hatch him with our incubator and spent alot of time with him. I am truly a novice when it comes to chickens!!! Good luck!
I hate those ugly things!!! When we lived in los osos, they would come in our doggy door (along with every raccoon). The ones we encountered seem to be mean, too! So sorry!!
My two buff Orphingtons are 21 weeks old and have NOT started laying. I'm going crazy waiting for an egg!!! I also was wondering when they start laying!
I told those little ladies that if I didn't see an egg soon they were going to the zoo to be fed to the tigers!!
I am so sorry for you!!!! I hope all your injured chickens get well real soon!!! How will you and your sister handle this situation? This is the third tragedy I have read tonight.
Wow, that fire is so close! Do you know how it started? (fireworks??)
Here's the view from my kitchen window above my sink. It's already pretty hot here, the green grass and weeds are fading fast!
