Last Update: After answering several questions over a few emails Miller is sending me a new heating unit to install in place of the bad one. Their service was good!
So I am returning the unit. It's obviously faulty and since it's brand new it's better to return than to try and fix it myself. I am currently getting help from the manufacturer. Their email, in case anyone else needs it for their Little Giant Incubator problems, is [email protected]
All the wires look solid. It never got wet, it's brand new out of the box.
I tried looking into checking it with a voltmeter but i'd have to take it apart to access the solder points. I'm not willing to risk pulling it apart if I want to return it. What a bummer!
Edited - I forgot it was a 12300 not a 9300
Hey there. I have been on a 6 year chicken hiatus, but got a little giant 9300 with forced air and an automatic egg turner for Christmas. Got a line on healthy eggs, got the incubator set up and checked it, worked fine got to temp. Went and picked up...
I have only 3 chickens right now. One kept going broody and I happened to be at a farm so I picked up some (hopefully) fertilised eggs and put them under her. Remembered to mark them after she laid one, so there's one I think might explode (good times) let's hope not.
The chickens prefer to...
I about to start all over after losing my flock to CRD. I have a neighbour whose 10 year old loves incubating so she's going to do the hatch for me. Some friends very kindly donated some of their fertilized eggs, but I can't set them until next Sunday. I'm hoping they make it without too much...
OK I don't know what's going on now!? SO yesterday I went to check on Fluffy, who was the first to get sick. Nell had some discharge on her beak. She was the other original bird. Fluffy was unchanged. Annie, a small barred rock that was part of the new group had not gone up into the coop and was...
No bad smell, so I ruled out Corzya. I hear you about possible treatment, but with so many of our friends with chickens being children I worry that i couldn't control the biosecurity piece enough. This is a backyard flock in the city, so it's not easy to keep them away altogether without...
My chickens have CRD. I have made the decision to cull my small flock, which is heartbreaking. We have them for the eggs and for the kids to learn about livestock etc. so it doesn't make sense to hang on to them and watch them cycle through this disease. I also worry about my friends with...
Now Nell is showing signs too, darn it. I was hoping for a fluke, but she's starting to get pus-sy discharge on her beak as well. No foaming in the eyes. Fluffy isn't better but she's no worse. I was actually just going to cull her and wait and see for the others but I think there is just no way...
