Need input about run.
My husband just built a me another chicken coop. He wants to put a wood deck in the chicken run, he says that should keep out any critters from digging under the run. Also he says it will stay drier. Input please.- sandy sea

Something ate 8 baby turkeys and killed 3 young ducks. Help.

Last night something dug under my enclosed turkey coop/run and took 8 baby turkeys. The hen was still in the coop not injured. In another coop where I had 3 young ducks, Something also dug under the run and killed 3 baby ducks. What ever killed the ducks did not take them. All three looked...- sandy sea

Turkey chicks hatched. What now?
Turkey chicks hatched today. Should I move the Tom turkey (dad turkey) to a different coop. The hen hatched her eggs in a crate off the ground. All the chicks and the hen are now on the ground. I am worried that the tom might step on the chicks. What do I do? -

Can I add my 4 weeks old chicks to my 6 weeks old chicks. The 6 weeks old chicks are in a large coop. The 4 weeks old are still in the garage with the heat lamp on at night. Would really like to move them into the coop. What do you think. Should I wait?- sandy sea

I moved them just now. I will try to candle them tomorrow. As you can tell this is the first time using an incubator. It is must easier to let the hens sit on them. Turkey Hen sits in water
One of my hen turkeys run straight out to the pond, first thing in the morning. I thought that it was a little weird also. I guess they like the water on their feet. -

Thanks, I will try to remove the chicken eggs. Another question, She has her nest in the coop in a large wooden crate on the floor. The opening is still pretty large. Should I close off more of the opening so that the Tom can not get to her? What size should I leave open for her? -

Hen turkey is sitting on her eggs but there are a few chicken eggs in the pile. Should I try to remove the chicken eggs or leave them. I know that turkey eggs hatch about a week after chicken eggs. Will she hatch out the chicken eggs first and wait for the turkey eggs to hatch? -
