We bought a new hen and when we got home with her she has a large fluid feeling/sounding bladder covering her entire chest. She eats and acts natural, not in pain even when touching her chest. Noted her feathers are gone tonight on growth. HELP!!!!!
this happened to our birds after introducing 3 new chickens. Lost all of them but they made the other 7 birds sick. Coughing, gurgling, and sneezing. I was able to get an antibiotic into them and all but the 3 new birds surrived. You will have to act fast. I crumbled the pill up and they ate it...
Hey everyone, we are new to this sight and have had chickens just over 2 years. Have learned as we went, wish I knew about this site then. Olin and I have 1 rooster (named Todd), 7 hens, a dog named 38, and a cat. Yes everyone has names. Our ladies and Todd are our pets but we do enjoy fresh...
We have used golf balls to stop our ladies from eating their eggs. Also we feed them egg shells, after washing them. This hardens the shells plus they love them!
Sorry for your loss. We lost 2 and rescued 1 from the hawk before she was hurt. We bought orange plastic fence from Lowes to cover our chicken run. It has kept the hawk out. Plus we bought a rooster for added protection for our ladies.
I tried using cyanne pepper in our chickens food to increase egg production. It really works! We only have 8 hens and it increased our eggs from 1 egg a day to 3. WOW!!!
