We had a fox take a Barred Rock about a month ago. Her name was Peck and she was the leader of the flock. Since then they have been disorganized, wandering in small groups rather than staying together and generally just look confused. I am pretty sure they have given me the role of head...

My daughter is almost 4, but my son is 5 and he would ask "But MaMa, why did you minus the Rooster, crooked beak, and bum foot. Aren't they still chickens?"
No honey, they are dinner.
Well, at least one of them will be... plus by subtracting the three I get to have more by the...
My son asked this morning, "Mom, how many chickens do we have?" Well, being one to seize any math teaching opportunity (he's 4 years old) I opted to use our new kitchen chalkboard to do a little chicken math. (I pity the poor teacher that has to unteach him when he gets to school).

They most likely add the DE for moisture control and to keep out the weevils. Works well for those purposes.
I also signed up for a free sample and only got about 1 cup worth. I see some others got large ziploc bags full...that is what I was hoping for
Definitely not speckled sussex. They have white legs and more black/dark brown instead of the reddish brown color. And not so much white on top of head. Russian Orloff?

Well please ask him why they like to hitchhike!

I need that bumper sticker... I don't get enough honks and strange looks as it is!
Actually, I get a lot of honks and "HEY I HAVE CHICKENS TOO!" yelled out the window. Makes me smile every time
I may have to get some of those printed...
We don't have a lot of folks around here...
Chicken napped
Anyone heard of the song Chickens In Love? You can look it up on Amazon. Chickens in love, bawk, bawk. Widget, your post made me immediately start humming it
Oh, they would definitely return a chicken! I have a barred rock that will get in my van too. She seems to like the front passenger seat. Chicken is my co-pilot?

They are dyed with blueberries. They were my Easter eggs this year. I used ground up carrots for the orange and brocolli and basil for the green ones. It was a lot of fun!

Nothing like overbuilding! At least you're prepared should more chickens find their way to your coop! Can you post a picture of it? Thinking about going that route when the new coop is built (hopefully soon 10 babies in the brooder).
yeah I'll snap a pic tomorrow and get it posted...

Cool! The place I got mine from is about 25 miles away (one way). Other than that my choices are Dumor, Purina and Blue Seal. I have used the Purina with good results. Dumor, not so much-I try to stay away from it. I have only used the Blue Seal chick starter but they like that...

what is green mount layer pellets, is it a brand from around the northeast?
Hi Speed. They are made in Vermont and organic. Thought I would give it a try and it looks like the bag I purchased from a local store was probably an old bag and my ladies wouldn't eat it. Got the new bag...
