I'm on my way out the door, but I PROMISED my dh I would post about my roosters before I went to work today.
They've all got to go. I'll post pictures as soon as I get home. I did manage to get pics of my nn (8months old) up on photobucket, here's a link...

Welcome!
I'm in Springfield, and have a chicken friend that I met on BYC over in Eugene. It has been wonderful to be able to share chicks and chickens and hatching eggs and advice and commiseration with her. I don't know what I would do without her! We can always enlarge our 'support...
Thanks so much! Connor is only three answers short of his 100, and he'll ask someone on the bus.
Just so you know, in just a few hours I got almost as many responses here as the dh did on his sports forum in two days!! That proves -- well, it really proves nothing, but I've decided that it...
Thanks so much! Keep 'em coming!
I had to say 'neener' to my dh. He posted this survey on his SPORTS forum yesterday and in less than an hour on my CHICKEN forum, I have half the number of responses that he got in more than 24 hours on his forum. lol
you guys rock!
Here's a sample response:
Cham
1. A
2. G
3. G
4. C
5. E
I'm really only guessing on some of these, like question 4. I'm not SURE that hockey is my least favorite sport to play, since i haven't played it... but I know what I'm like on ice skates, so I chose hockey.
Thanks again
Hi everyone,
My ds Connor (12) is involved in a school project/sports survey in which he needs to get one hundred responses. He doesn't exactly know 100 people and being a shy kid, he didn't really want to solicit strangers. So, I'm hoping I can use my 'chicken conections' to help him out a...
Ok, here's what I think.
I think #1 is a cuckoo pullet.
I can't tell if the second one is blue or black, but I think pullet.
#3 is SO roo. Looks like Black Copper
#4 I say black copper pullet
#5 looks like a blue copper pullet
#6 the coloring looks just like my blue copper roo, but with a...
I read this thread over the last couple of days wishing I had something amazing and insightful to contribute... but it looks like you've got it figured out!
Your additude while trying to solve this problem is wonderful. You have been trying to get your needs met, to feel respected and listened...
Yeah, that's the downside... opening up the bator. I have really shallow water chanels so putting something under the whole bator would have meant me refilling the water more often than I'd like.
My ultimate solution was to get an auto-turner and I REALLY like it. I've had a much better hatch...
Hi Marans experts. My friend bought marans eggs that are supposed to be BC, Blue Copper, cuckoos or Silver marans. I have hatched cuckoos and can say that they look nothing like mine... but other than that, I dunno!
Here are three of the chicks... any opinions?
Two chicks are pretty...
I have both as well. Neither are old enough to lay, so I can't speak for egg production.
For 'personality' I prefer my barnies over every other breed of chicken I've had, including silkies. They have been the calmest most friendly chicks! They hatched out of nice dark eggs I got from Farmer...
I have a couple of pics posted on my photobucket album... here you go!
TURNED
In this last pic you can see how I cut down the carton once I stop turning. (actually, I just get another carton ready and transfer the eggs.) I cut the sides down in case the chicks pip low on the side of the...
Nope, sorry Lemurchaser... I dont' know when I'll be heading north again. I think the EE's are spoken for anyway... just waiting on an email to confirm.
I posted on craigslist though and I'm amazed at the responses! I wish I had more room, I'd raise chickens just to sell on craigslist! I have...
Lemurchaser, you're right! The other hen in the picture is an EE, but she's sold. That's the EE that Carousel took home. The EE's I have left are the gold/tan pullets in the blue brooder, and the gold/grey hen.
She really is gorgeous. I have another that looks very similar, but she's molting...
Hi everyone!
Is anyone planning to go to the home show at the fairgrounds in Eugene? This is the 'green' show and I'm looking forward to it.
I'm getting antsy to get SPRING here... I've got to get me some old windows or something and get some cold frames built so I can start planting in Feb.
I'm in Springfield, and I need to thin my flock by a LOT. I'm selling a bunch of hens, juvenilles and chicks for CHEAP.
I have four laying hens, all 10 months old from Dunlap Hatchery. $10 each for proven layers. (1 RIR SOLD, 1 Australorp SOLD, two EE's. )
A Silkie/frizzle sizzle trio, one...
