Getting power to the coop. Best method.

Looks good but I don't think the fan blowing directly on the chickens is helpful because they dont sweat. You might be better off putting the fan in the window so it circulates fresh air and brings in cooler night-time air.

    Is Head Bobbing Normal?

Maybe a nutritional inbalance? Id try to give her some extra vitamins in her water. I had a month old chick that had very starnge head bobbing (crooked neck or wry neck) and was recommended to put her down but I got some vitamins and hand feed her for a couple weeks and she is now fine 4...

My dear sweet Sugar passed away today please help me.

You could put her in a bag in the freezer until the ground softens. I had a 2 day old die this spring and put her in the freezer until I had time to bury her.

Need to get rid of FLYS!!! they are constantly on the chickens and ducks food. Any ideas?

Victor disposable fly traps work really well, I highly recommend them. I tried the RESCUE disposable bags from Lowe's and they didn't work at all for me.

    new to this

I highly recommend a fully covered run so no hawks fly in and no coons climb in while they are roosting. I also would cover half the run with a solid top to keep out the rain and provide some shade, the other half only covered with wire to let in some sun. I would use a sand floor surrounded...

URGENT HELP - Chicken can't walk today

I found this on another site. There are a few possible reasons for the lameness but first we need to eliminate rickets. It is possible your bird has a dietary deficiency. It is fairly common for young birds around this age to develop leg problems if they are not on a good diet. Sometimes people...

    roosting question

I use branches about 2" wide and they are at three different height all above the nest boxes so the can hop their way to the top. Lead hens will roost on the top pole and babies on the lowest pole. I also take an automatic sander and smooth down and sharpe or pointy things to protect their feet.

    Chick feed ?

This is a good thread. I'm now confused and worried about putting the 9 chicks in with my two hens. I dont have a way of keeping them seperated so do I need to stop feeding my two hens layer feed for then next two months? Sounds like I need to find some All flock feed that both groups can...

    My new Babies

Chickin pickin, the EE's are more aggressive than the Plymouths. MyNameIs86 , I am using paper towels on top of some absorbent cloth. I change the paper towels out three or four time a day. My wife recently requested I change and start using some of the puppy pee pads to keep the smell down.
