Processing Day Support Group ~ HELP us through the Emotions PLEASE!

Amish in our area will kill and process our broilers for $1.60 each. Well worth it. Don't mind dropping them off and picking up dead birds. Just can't kill them myself. Kind of funny seeing that I am an avid deer and turkey hunter. Can't kill a coon I catch in a trap either. Makes no...

    When/If to help hatch

Hello. I always followed the don't help rule, but after this last hatch, I am regreting that I didn't. Had an egg that got itself over half unzipped (took 20 hours to get that far). I fell asleep expecting to wake up to a chick. What happened was the egg rolled while it was trying to hatch...

Brahma Bantam Hen Sick - Lethargic and Skinny

She was doing badly yesterday, so I wormed her again early. She seems more active tonight, but still is losing weight. Wondering if that is normal after worming a heavily worm infest chicken. Still haven't seem any worms, but I know that may not matter.

Brahma Bantam Hen Sick - Lethargic and Skinny

I have been giving her poultry vitamins directly into her mouth every couple of days. She is loosing weight again. Actually lost .6 oz the day I wormed and another .6 oz since yesterday. I am hoping this is just the worms dying and losing their weight. I still haven't found any worms in her...

My guineas finally left the coop

Glad to see I am not the only one with this problem. I am also new to guinea fowl. I had four and was told how to teach them where home is. That wasn't a problem. Kept them in coop for six weeks. Finally, got them to go out. Need the coop for my bantam chickens. Everyone told me guineas...

Can anyone identify which breed this chick is pleease ?

Where did you buy your chicks? Hatchery RIRs are not true RIRs. They are considered utility birds as they are breed to increase egg production not for appearance. Could just be a genetic mixup somehow. The sex wouldn't make a difference in appearance of the chick if they are RIRs, even...

my chicks are about 5 weeks old now! i found bloody stool in the tub. HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

Hello. I haven't gotten through a batch of chicks yet that I didn't have to treat for Cocci. Don't think it is anything you did wrong. There is a reason that starter feed is medicated to prevent it. I think it is extremely common. They will be fine with prompt treatment. Good luck

    Can I get some ideas?

Hello. I have had the best luck with canned cat food or peanut butter on bread. My husband heard from a guy at work to use a lightbult, unlit. The reflection of the moon on the shinny glass and metal is supposed to attract a coon. My father in law set a trap like that tonight to get a coon...
