She was doing badly yesterday, so I wormed her again early. She seems more active tonight, but still is losing weight. Wondering if that is normal after worming a heavily worm infest chicken. Still haven't seem any worms, but I know that may not matter.

Where did you buy your chicks? Hatchery RIRs are not true RIRs. They are considered utility birds as they are breed to increase egg production not for appearance. Could just be a genetic mixup somehow. The sex wouldn't make a difference in appearance of the chick if they are RIRs, even...

Hello. I haven't gotten through a batch of chicks yet that I didn't have to treat for Cocci. Don't think it is anything you did wrong. There is a reason that starter feed is medicated to prevent it. I think it is extremely common. They will be fine with prompt treatment. Good luck

Thanks. I ended up getting Valbazen wormer this evening which is a broad spectrum wormers that was recommended by others on Backyard chickens. It is directly fed to the chicken, so there is not doubt she got as much as she needed. She did gain a small amount of weight in the last 24 hours...
