    I know this is an old thread, but if I'm keeping just a small flock of hens would you say it's a good idea to have them vaccinated, since I can't use the "survival of the fittest" method?

    I've seen advertisements for these little "vests" that the chickens can wear that supposedly deter the hawks. Does anyone know if those really work? It seems a bit cumbersome to have to dress your chickens.

    pressure treated woos for coop?

    That is good to know; I was wondering about using pressure treated wood. I was planning on using it just for the floor, but was probably going to use linoleum or paint over it. Anything I should know about which paint to use/not use?
