Jubilee Orpington - Speckled Sussex -Heavy Graphics

I am fairly new to breeding. I have owned chickens for 2 years and since I started it has been a vast world of knowledge and continually I want to know more. I purchased an incubator back in the fall( sportsman's cabinet modal ) used of course. I have since learned all I could about incubating...

How to breed to get Jubilee orpington?

Hello all, I have recently purchased 2 Blue Orpington roosters and 1 hen of the same. I love their colors, and want to definately hatch out some chicks from them. I ran across the Jubilee Orpington and read one post on mixing Blue Orpington with Speckled Sussix. I found this very interesting...

    Hawks

I agree with 7L Farm's quote a 100%! I also agree with everyone on having great safe coops/runs, with plenty of room and wire roofs. I have to coops/runs ( nice big runs ) with frames and wire all around. The other thing I say on this issue is my chickens go nuts when you let them out. They love...

    Hawks

All this talk of not killing a hawk because of the laws, the law says "The taking, killing and/or illegal possession of hawks, owls, songbirds, endangered species or any other species for which a season is not set (e.g. snakes) is prohibited." My point in posting this is SNAKES are on that list...

Hi, been reading the post. I have a similar problem with having introduced new chickens in with my chickens I already had raised. yogurt/ feed?

I have read about giving your chickens yogurt, and stuff like that. I am just wandering how too give it to them, and how much? I have about 10 chickens, and 10 chicks( 2mths old)-not together. Is it okay to give the chicks some too? I currently feed my grown chickens 1 feeder tray of laying...

Can I mix month old chicks and year old chickens?

The guy I bought my grown rooster from had him and some other hens in a coop with chicks the same size as mine. I was confused but he said he had birds he could put with chicks and birds he couldn't. i know 2 of the birds I got from him were with chicks. That is why I didn't think if the...

Can I mix month old chicks and year old chickens?

Yeah, the bad thing is I was so happy to finish my new coop/run for the 5 five full grown birds. I never thought I'd have to build or add on just to integrate more chicks. The money already spent, plus time, I didn't account for it all at first. Nothing is ever as easy as it seems.

Can I mix month old chicks and year old chickens?

Wow all this is good info, but not good at the same time. I had heard of introducing them at night in the coop, I was told they wouldn't even notice the difference that way. Any truth to this?

Can I mix month old chicks and year old chickens?

Introducing new chicks/ pen & run size?

Hi to all, about 3 weeks ago I bought 10 baby chicks from the local TSC. 6-red pullets and 4-sussex ( not sure what they will be yet) I think thats right, still new at all the breeds/names. Anyway, I have them in a nice brooder cage and went ahead and built a coop with the run. Coop is up on leg...
