I am in the Fingerlakes. My marans is a black copper I hatched out last October, in my last fit of egg buying off E-bay, although she is all black and no copper coloring. Her eggs are nice and dark. One of my two roos is from that group, too. She is such a sweetie, I am keeping her, and probably...
Hello, it's been awhile since I posted. This year I have been good about not buying eggs to hatch or chicks to raise, however, my hens have had other ideas, and I am over run! Even with the awful predation of a weasel (curse him! glad he's gone) I still have thirteen Serama babies to find homes...
I would like to know this, too. Currently I have eight Seramas in a very roomy coop with a run outside, but I know it will get too cold for them in another month or so. I have heard 40 degrees is too cold. I have been thinking I would have to turn over my extra bedroom to them! What do Serama...
This is all very interesting to me, as I have a similar problem, but I'm the one the rooster goes after and my husband does not want anything done to him other than "isolating" him in our old coop. That lasted all of one afternoon while the rooster went crazy battering himself against the walls...
Hi I don't know if you found what you were looking for. I have some EE's that lay blue and blue green eggs, eight month old pullets. I'm in the Finger Lakes.

Hi, I am in Lansing, NY, in the Finger Lakes. This is such a wonderful forum. I've learned a lot, although one thing I haven't figured out, and that's how not too have too many chickens. And I have too many chickens! I have (blush) 25. Five cockerels, two hens, eighteen pullets. Mostly...
I've just ordered my incubator! If it gets here and I can get it stabilized in time, I will hatch along with all of you.

Sorry, just saw the "three weeks". She definitely looks like my Sussex, who are just about three weeks, too. Nice little girls, too. Not like my Golden comets, one of whom is breaking out in pure white feathers, which I think means I have a baby roo, not a pullet!
