In the way of what? My birds like to hang out on the ramp as much as the floor. They are birds climbing and getting off the ground is natural, it is only in the way for you. Put treads close enough together that they can walk up and down it with out sliding too much.

Do you have a light on them? I raised my light over the roost and they started using it. Probably trying to stay warm.

My coop doesn't have a door to the run. I just made sure it is secure. We live in avocado groves with three ponds with in a twenty acre area. With all the food water and hunting restrictions, I would venture to say we have more coyotes per acre than just about anywhere. Nothing has got to...

One of the things that I like most about my run is that I can stand up in it to clean it out. I made my run as secure as the coop it's self because I didn't want my life to revolve around opening and closing a door for my birds, but we live in a very mild climate so there is no door. Looks...

Install an exterior door shoe, it has a drip edge that will divert the water away from the bottom of the door.

We clean ours out every two weeks, we use straw for the run and coop so we can mulch are avocado grove. Wheel barrow and a horse corral fork makes short work of it.

I thought of one more thing I would have done differently, more roost and less nest boxes. They all share the nest boxes so I usually only have eggs in three of the six.
