~Thank you for posting these pictures......Now I will make my bantam cochin a sling tonight to make her more comfortable. I think it's Marek's....even tho she is 8 months old and was vaccinated. She is doing the legs spread everywhere...hasn't walked or stood in 5 days and really...

Hi Christal...
I just wanted to tell you that it took me two days to find everything but I finally got it all! I have started Dora on the cranberry powder and the Hypericum (all I found are the drops). For some reason she isn't much interested in water but I think she was having crop...

Hi Lauriruth! I am in Fort Worth!!
Yes, I have seen Safeguard paste at TSC! They sell many worming pastes there in the equine section! I have heard that Safeguard is the best and the safest for chickens.....give a pea size drop on a treat/bread to each chicken I would say twice a...

~Christal~ Thank you so much for this info....it sound exactly like what is happening to my "Dora." She was just fine and now all of a sudden this weird lameness --and I too have to hold her up for support so she can eat and drink! She has an okay appetite but isn't too interested in...
Hi WelaSharon - -
~Just wanted to let you know that I have started "Dora" on her mash and she does like it! I also am giving it to my other hen, Peaches, who recently suffered sour crop and she is gobbling it up and doing great now.
I also got Dora (the one who's acting paralyzed) vit b...

~Okay, thanks so much. I have been looking up everything I can find about Marek's. It's like she has the leg issues but I don't think she is actually "paralyzed" as they say with Marek's mainly because she can still scoot around on them. Also, I have read the chicken's eyes turn gray...

Thanks Hillbilly Hen.....I just got home from the store and gave "Dora" her first dose of vit B complex and Polyvisol. She is having a bit of a time eating now but hopefully she will pull through.....I'll keep you posted.....
A good basic one to put into their water is "Wazine 17." You can get it at any feedstore and I would treat maybe twice a year. Wazine 17 only kills large roundworms so I would also get Safeguard paste and give each chicken a pea sized drop on a treat maybe once or twice a year (interchange...
Man, ok, thanks! I am going to start the vit b and the polyvisol today.
I will keep all posted!
(she seems to be getting worse....when she extends her neck for a drink her neck just falls and plunges into the water....I'm having to hold her close and tucked under my arm for support so she can...

Well I put DE out a lot....in food and in nest boxes, etc. It wasn't enough for my hens. I would say to be safe use the Wazine 17 at least once every quarter or so......
You are proof positive that DE in chicken feed does not prevent nor kill worms....thank you Amanda4TCU...I have...

Yes, definitely try to get something soon. And my Peaches got worse before she got better so don't give up.
And the vet said to worm all your chickens every 30 days or so and to rotate the brand so they won't get immune.
Yes, it is very difficult to find a chicken vet....and I don't...

I just took my 2 yr old cochin to the vet because she became sad, weak and wasn't eating or drinking much. Vet said she had lots of round worms (and I vaccinated 3 months ago). The vet said the worms, if bad enough, will take over the chicken, even causing crop problems. And the worms come...

~Thanks - - I am heading to the store in a few mintues to grab the polyvisol and the vit B complex. I am sure hoping that's what's going on! I have moved her into my house to keep her safe....
Dawg53....thank you...I will pick up the vit B complex today. I have inspected her for mites and bumblefoot but she is clean as a whistle...I just don't understand but it's heartbreaking. She just seems to be getting worse but hopefully the vit B will be a good boost for her. I moved her into...
