I have 4 brown leghorns and 3 make the usual peeping sound but one is very quiet. You can barely hear her peeping. She is healthy; eats well and looks well, but she is very quiet.

We moved our chicks out to the coop at about 6 weeks but we kept the brooder light on them until for a while longer until the nights got warmer and they were completely feathered out. Also, they began to get angry with the light when they got too warm so that tells me it is time to get rid of it.

I would say yes it is still too cold. When my chicks were little and were still under the light I would put them near an open window for some sunshine and some fresh air all the while keeping their heat lamp on them. Mine didn't roost right away when I put them in the coop. It took about a week before they would sleep on the roost.

I left mine on until they were completely feathered.
