Hi. I am in the UK and have hatched some black and cuckoo rumpless Araucanas ( UK standard). Can anybody tell me what colours I am likely to get if I put them to my gold duckwing rumpless boy please? I am not wanting to show them, am just interested in some garden birds.
Sorry I should have explained myself a bit better. I am actually trying to breed these colours of UK Araucana which is very close as far as I can see to your US Ameraucanas (apart from crest i think) but please correct me if i am wrong, hence posting in this thread. Barred UK Araucanas already...
Hi. Can anybody please tell me what colours I would have to put together to breed
A. Lavender cuckoo
B. Isabel
C. Crele
I am not sure if these are standard colours but I think they are beautiful.
Many thanks.
:PDoes anybody know what colours I will get if I cross a white cockerel with a lavender barred hen please? Also to get the normal cuckoo colouring in the chicks would I have to cross the lavender barred hen with a black cockerel?
Thanks loads.

My Goldtop had been broody for 10 days and at night time I swapped her eggs for 2 chicks that were 3 days old and they did great. She is an exceptionally good broody though. I think your problem may be that your other hens may pick on the chicks and also she will still want to brood her babies...
The little beasties are lice and the white bits on the feathers are the eggs. The DE is meant to help but will take time and isn't always effective. If you want to get rid of them quickly you need to use Fipronil. It's dog and cat flea treatment in a 'spot on' or spray application. Trade names...
Thanks for the reply Brahmabreeder, that helps me. Can anybody tell me if a pullets first ever egg can be fertile? I saw the cockerel mating with her 2 days before she laid her egg ( I think I have just answered my own Question there haven't I ?! Lol) I presume then that there is a good...
Please can anybody help me as I am going to be over run with chickens soon. The reason is that I hate to think a fertilised egg is just left and not incubated so I have to hatch them all! My cockerel isn't going to his new home until the weekend so I am running out of incubator room. I am...
Yes it's contagious but older chickens develop an immunity to it so its normally chicks that display symptoms and then go downhill. Occasionally with great care they can pull through but will always shed it so can infect others. They don't all have to be ill for it to be marek's, just an odd one...
I think this does sound like Marek's. from what I have been reading Marans are quite susceptible to it, I have just lost a BCM to it and she started by showing symptoms like yours.
My BCM Etta isn't well. :( I found a clump of her feathers in the run about 2 weeks ago but she seemed fine. However a few days later she was very lame on her right leg and one of her wings seems to be hanging strangely. There are no wounds on her and definitely no fractures. predators can not...
