Here's pics of my "no plan" coop. Still need to add a few things (Door, nest box, run, etc...). Looks pretty cheesy compared to some of the great coops I've seen here but hopefully it will suffice.

Once those dogs know about the birds it'll be pretty difficult to keep them away. Best to keep them enclosed if possible or only out when you can keep watch.

Racoons are really good at latches. You have to be pretty creative if you got racoons around.

Cross contamination would be my worry too.

I've got a red heat lamp on my BR's and they hardly peep at all (2 weeks and at 90-92 degrees). We're brooding them in the playroom just in case though.
