Hi Lee,
We're in Louisville but have land not too far from you on Tick Ridge! Love it up there! I can't wait till we can move us and the chickens up there
I built this out of our old baby changing table.
I wanted it to look nice because I plan on using it through out the spring & summer.
The sides and bottom are Plexiglas and the back is corrugated plastic. Sealed with a water proof adhesive/glue.
I broke down and got a Brinsea EcoGlow 20 so I...
My 2 just started laying in Nov. and I get 1-2 every day. I had to drive a 3 hour round trip to get this trio and they were sooooo worth it! Love them so much I bought a new incubator and will be hatching them out very soon.
I too live in Louisville and have 1 acre. At first I was told I was limited and then I found out different so I got it confirmed when I contacted Metro Animal Services. If you have over .5 acre there are no limits and yes the chickens can free range but must be fenced. Here is the contact info...
My family thinks I went off the deep end when I decided to raise chickens, all except my 19 year old daughter, she is an animal lover. Well at the time this happened I had been raising chickens about 2 years and had about 10 hens and 1 rooster. One of our hens was particularly spoiled due to the...
Donald, Daisy & Lilly
This is my 22 week old trio.
No eggs as of yet!
This is Donald, I think he is so handsome; )
Any expert advice on their coloring?
This was my first coop about 3 years ago. It had already been changed by making the
nest boxes external. This made more room inside for more chickens! About 4'x4'
This was the next addition, a covered feed area.
Next we made this tractor for sick chickens, brodies and raising chicks...
Darla, my 6 month old Silver Sebright went broody. Rescued her and her sister when they were about 2 weeks old.
Fred, just under a year old Barred Rock Rooster.
Hello Susanjoans, I live in Louisville and have a 3 mo. old trio of Welsh Harlequins. These are my first ducks, but I have 20 chickens! How is your coop going?
We are not always here at night to put them up. That is why I have an automatic coop door for the chickens. If I can't get the ducks to go in on their own, I will have to get rid of them for their own safety.
Thanks for the input! I tried a ramp on the front at first (you can see it in the second coop pic) and they would not go near it, had to pick them up and put them on it to get them to go in. At least with the steps on the front now when I heard them to it they go right up. Now the steps on the...
Hi from Kentucky! I recently purchased my first ducks. I chose WH because they are perfect for the backyard and I love their color. Here is a pic of them at 8 weeks old. Any comments on their coloring would be appreciated Also, I am having trouble getting them to go into the coop at night by...
