Our sanctuary just rescued these six "hens"... Not so sure the gray one in the middle is a hen. They're supposedly about three months old.
What breeds do we have here?
Thanks!
I had two 5 year old Diamonds and one of them passed back in October. I was so worried about the remaining little guy, but he has made it through the grief period and is loving life. These past couple weeks I noticed something was wrong. He was sitting on the floor in the back corner of his cage...
Aw what cuties! Congrats on them!
I had two hatch yesterday. 1 Buff Silkie and 1 Splash Silkie! The Splash is a little weak, but the Buff is a crazy little one! They hatched about 7 minutes apart! I call them the twins! :p
The other 2 eggs don't look good. I candled this AM to make sure...
I had a pip in one when I woke up this AM and it's been the same all day!
Another one did pip and semi zip on the bottom at some point today so that's why I didn't see it. I want to go in and flip the egg over so badly!
And my last two haven't shown signs of anything.
Do you have multiple thermometers in the incubator? I had something like that happen last year. Turns out my thermometer was wrong the entire time. So now I never incubate with less than two.
I have candled and it looks like I still have 4 going strong. Unfortunately, one of the 4 has a saddle air sac. I don't have much experience with this situation. I'm sure the hatch rate on those isn't good?
Nice to see your progress! Out of 8 eggs I have only 3 developing PLUS another one of my silkies went broody! So now I NEED at least 2 successful eggs. Haha!
YAY!!! I got mine in the mail yesterday and set them in the evening. Today is Day 1 and I already want to candle them! Ahh. I just like to know that something is actually growing. Ya know? :)
I'm getting a small shipment of silkie eggs today! (I hope) :) Half will be going under the broody hen and the other half will be hatched in an incubator!
Just trying to get a rough estimate here. My silkie hen has been broody for almost 3 weeks now. I tried to hatch some of our own eggs, but none ended up being fertile for some odd reason. So, I ordered hatching eggs and will give her half and hatch half on my own - just in case. I am of course...
One of the silkie babies I hatched from your eggs last year has gone broody! So exciting! Could you sell a smaller batch of eggs (6 or so)? And would it still be $19 shipping?
