thx to those who responded to my idea for a wire floor, do oyu think it'd work well to have 'poop boards' about 8" or so beneath the wire and then have about that thick of grass clippings (dried prior to prevent clumping and stinking) as a deep litter method for the winter?

i had some questions about silkies because i was considering getting some myself

their feathers are not waterproof and may have problems with snow, even if they are good with cold

not sure as to the protein percentage of worms
but seems to me that if you just had a five gallon bucket or maybe a big tote(not sure on a good size really)

out of curiosity, has anyone ever mixed hemp seed into their cakes?
hemp seeds are VERY high in protein, have all nessacary amino and fatty acids for humans and are a good source of omega 3, 6 and 9
plus they are popular in some bird feeds
given all this, i would assume they would be very good...
are they any good for chickens?
reason i ask is i have a whole bunch growing in my yard, i think so anyway
