    hens 'fighting'

My hens seem to have sorted themselves out thankfully, it got to the point when the one being bullied wouldn't eat in the presence of the bully which was disturbing, so we would take her aside and make sure she was getting food, but over the last few days they have gone back to normal, getting...

    hens 'fighting'

We've had three hens for about 18 months, they've all been together since about two weeks old, and just this past week one of them has started to 'bully' one of the others, she pecks her feathers, jumps up on her back sticking her claws in her. They have ample space, an outdoor run of about 40...

hen layed a mixture of poop and egg

She's fine now, but for a day was quite lethargic, then didn't lay for a day or two, then yesterday we found a poop that had like an egg yellow (very small) mixed in with it. She went back to laying a normal egg this morning, a bit of a thin shell, but ok. Any ideas why this would be?

Just a quick update, she's fine back to her alert cheery self now, laying an egg a day. Her feathers are just the same, I think they must just have turned curly and it was a coincideence!!!!!

Oh that's good, they really, really enjoyed them, they can have all the shells as a treat next time we treat ourselves!! We always give them the layers mix, whatever we give them as treats is extra.

    Prawns shells

We were eating prawns in the garden the other day and the hens got hold of the shells and they loved it, all the little leggy things and everything!!!! A - I assume these are ok for them as they haven't been upset. B - Do you think the shell is in any way useful for going towards egg shell...

    eggy poop

Sorry not been on line for a while. There were no signs of distress, a little bit 'slow' and lethargic. The poop only happened once, it's been ok since, she didn't lay for a few days but she's back to normal now. The hens have mainly layers pellets, there's oyster shell for them in a pot...

I'm a bit of a technophobe and my hsband has filmed the chickies with his phone, he's managed to download (or is it upload?) it onto the computer and it sits there as an icon in the inbox but we are not able to open the file and watch it! It says that the player may not support the codec that...

    wet look tail feathers?

One of my hens tails looks like it's got wet look hair gel on it, it isn't actually wet or damp - it just looks like it is. She's also behaving very slow.....when I feed the three of them treats she never seems to 'get in there' and looses out (though I do separate her and give her her own...
