Relocating a BB Red and her nest of eggs

My chickens here free range, but go in their coop at night. I have a little BB Red hen that quit laying eggs in the coop (laying them some place outside) Then on July 4th she no longer went in the coop at night to be locked up and stayed out all night. I assumed she was sitting on her eggs some...

Do little BB Reds Crow? Any one here have any?

Yeah, I didn't know what to expect. Right now they are just make light peeping and slight giggle chatter (if that's what you' call it) noises. They aren't chicks, but about 8-10 weeks now. I guess he just hasn't found his voice yet.

Do little BB Reds Crow? Any one here have any?

I just picked up a little BB Red rooster and his hen mate tonight. Was wondering are they crowers? So far they are the quietest things ever.

Saying good by to my little buddy.

I dropped him off today. I'll give it a few days and ask how the transition to his new diggs are working out. I told him to keep the Rooster in the coop for a few days before letting him roam the property. That way he knows where the food and water is located at, and can establish a new home...

Saying good by to my little buddy.

Well I’m saying good by to my little buddy, and permanently lending him out to a friend, to look over his small flock of four hens that are about one year old. He has a Dachshund (wiener-dog) that will not leave his free range hens alone. When the dog is out side, it chases and torments the...

    Anvil Hunting...

I've been looking for an anvil for a few years myself. Yesterday was my lucky day I bought a 125# Anvil on Craigslist for $125.00. It was luck of the draw. I came in from the barn and just happen to check craigslist the same minute it was listed. I was the first to respond to the ad, and got...

Metal fabricated waterer with wintertime heater

Well, I went out to gather eggs this morning , and it’s 9 degrees outside today. It’s a balmy 25 degrees inside the chicken coop. I checked the temperature of the water bottle, now with a 25 watt bulb installed in the base. And the water is at a warm 41 degrees. So no frozen water for the...
