    Hunger Game Fans Chat Thread!

My wife and I love to read books together. When I saw the preview for the movie I told my wife "I know what we're reading next." The books were fantastic and I thought the movie was a great adaptation. I get all choked up whenever I see the part where Katniss volunteers for her sister.

    When should I worm?

Well maybe not vitamins but minerals.

My coop I made with stuff I had laying around.

Yes the siding is finger jointed so there's no knots. It's cheaper than buying actual clear siding. I believe it is redwood. Unfortunately according to the covenants in our neighborhood it will have to be painted to match the house. Oh well, I have the paint already. Just need to find the time...

Well I made the fence look pretty today! I'm going to put a little door in the fence that borders the garden so they can clean up in there once I get the gate in for the garden. And the fence boards were extra that I got from my uncle.

Yeah I will try the heat tape for the waterer, but the problem is that the hose bib it's connected to gets shut off in the winter because it's tied to the sprinkler system. I have to figure out a way to get water from the house system out by the shed without it freezing as well. The siding...

There's not much left to pick through. Got a bunch of scrap steel though. Maybe someday I'll get around to a welding project.

    When should I worm?

Cheap and easy way to deworming both dogs and chickens is by putting diatomaceous earth in their food. All natural, and it's full of vitamins and minerals.

My coop I made with stuff I had laying around.

Here's my coop that I attached to an existing shed with leftover materials from my jobs. It's 6' by 12' with a raised floor made of car decking. Here you can see that I installed electrical. The roosts are on the left with trays that pull out to collect the manure. On the right is the nesting...

    When should I worm?

If worried about worms you could always just add a little food grade diatomaceous earth to their feed. That will take care of it and it's completely natural. It's available at most feed stores. It's also a good dietary supplement for you too.

    What breed is this chick?

It's also possible that it's a rooster. We got a few barred rocks last year and after a few weeks we noticed that one wasn't quite as dark as the others. A little while longer the comb and wattles were noticeably more red. Turned out to be a rooster, which is ok where we live. We actually just...
