His/her right leg is turned at the hip. The toes of the foot point behind her/him. I've tried turning...

I've been reading and thinking . . . tell me if my plan will work or what I need to do differently . for my roo that apparently has fowl pox. First, move him out to a pen all his own. Wash food bowls, watering bowls, small coop the three biddies are in and ground with bleach solution. Watch...

    Help, please! Is he dead?

About lunchtime yesterday another chick started pipping. In 5 hours it will be about 24 hours and he's not out. Apparently quit. Hear no sound from him. Open incubator? Leave him to rot? What do I do? 8 more eggs inside and one live chick. He had started pipping to left, but seems to have just quit.

Help, please! My cuckoo is cuckoo

I bought 3 cuckoo maran chicks in late February. One is a rooster (I'm told) and the two hens have begun laying. The rooster is not crowing nor is he being amourous with the hens. They were hatched in early February. Could there be something wrong with his rooster genes? I moved him and the two...

    Limping Chicken

Gizzi, I'm way far from knowing much about chickens. I'm here learning, too. My yr old barred rock is limping as well. I had what looked like and felt like a very heavy rooster. I'm wondering if she sprained her leg jumping from a roost or nest or if she got hurt by the rooster being too big...

    Sick little hen

Hi, all! One of my little bantam hens, a good broody hen, is sick. Acts like she has a cold, is sneezing, etc. Still eating some, but wants to stay in the nest. Bird flu, cold? I'm so new to chickens I don't know what to do or what is wrong. No bird vets anywhere in these boondocks. Thank you...

    Please look and help me

Here are pictures of my crested polands . . . They were hatched March 10. From my poor pictures, can you tell me roosters or hens? I'm almost positive from what I've read that the third photo of the blue poland is a rooster. And I think the second one is a hen (hoping). What do you think?

The coop scoop . . . need help!

Hubby built my coop (my idea) on a concrete slab that used to be a dog kennel. It is inside a chain link run. Coop is about 9x15, I think. Since we've had so much rain lately, the coop flooded, and the wood that touches the concrete floor seems to absorb water to about the six inch mark. We are...
