    Got the bator working again. Concerned about the eggs though, they got pretty hot under the heat lamp so not sure if they'll be okay. I had to get the bator fixed and when I came back they felt quite hot to touch. Will this kill them?, it was only for a few hours.

    Major problem!! Incubator shut off last night and I can't get it working!! I've put the 6 eggs in a basket wrapped in a slightly damp towel and put it under a heat lamp, will this be ok as a temporary solution?

    Jersey giants and rhode island reds are good broodys so if you leave a large enough clutch of eggs (over 12) they should naturally go broody. Also remember they will only really go broody in Spring/Summer :)

    The hens will lay their eggs everyday in the nest boxes, you should collect them and when you want a broody hen simply leave a clutch of about 12 eggs in one of the nestboxes. 1 of the hens will decide to go broody and when she does i recommend seperating her in a smaller safe coop or whatever...

    I just candled there :) I got 6 out of 7 eggs are looking good, 1 egg Is clear. Hopefully the 6 good ones will hatch!! ;)

    I set 6 Khaki Campbell duck eggs and one indian runner egg (which is green) yesturday, I bought them all at a local poultry market. Theyre duck eggs so they should take an extra week so not so sure if they hatch on St.Paddys day
