Anybody have any ideas how to get the police to respond to a neighbor pouring poison on a tree in the fence to our goat's yard??? Are there any oversight committees in Oklahoma to make the police do their job?

What did you do in the garden today?

Planted fall crops this week. More beans, cucumbers, cantelope, black eyed peas, okra, and lettuce. Need to get broccoli and cabbage seeds in the ground too.

Sweet potatoes are grown from slips. Just stick a sweet potato in a glass of water on a sunny windowsill and shoots will start growing. Cut them off and root in water then plant. Just takes a few days.

What did you do in the garden today?

Still harvesting asparagus in our rainy spring. Something is eating my strawberries though. I'm suspicious that I have a little turtle in them. It's either that or wild birds. Peas still haven't bloomed but they are still growing like mad. Potatoes are about four feet tall. I've never seen them...

I never even made it in my garden today when the sun was up. Left at 5:30 am, got home at 11:10 pm. I'm exhausted ...

I think budgeting depends on what your goals are. If you're trying to save for something, that can be a focus. If you like to travel, it will make a difference. Be realistic above everything. You can't spend more than you make. We still have a teenager at home but I don't spend $50 a week on...

What did you do in the garden today?

My rogue chicken dug up my asparagus and broke off four stalks. Then it destroyed three of my strawberry plants, ate all of my cabbage transplants, and half a row of peas. She is now in chicken jail awaiting her fate tomorrow.

What did you do in the garden today?

Planted my strawberries and basil and harvested more asparagus. The broccoli is heading out well, apple trees still blooming, currants in full bloom, and we have little baby peaches for the first time in three years!! I am soooo happy

Oh no. (((Hugs))) Losses like that are so devastating. I'm so sorry. Unfortunately, dealing with loss is part of the reality of farm life. There's nothing fun about it. Allow yourselves to grieve. We've all been through it at least once. We lost all of our turkeys one year to an opposum. They...

What are you transplanting out? Most things can be planted pnce they have four true leaves on them. If you set your seedlings out in the sun during the day they'll grow faster. Up-potting will also give them a boost. I'm in northern oklahoma and already have tomatoes in the ground.

Hoping all the fruit trees made through the cold last night. I wish, just once, we wouldn't have a freeze after being 80° for a week.

What did you do in the garden today?

Were scheduled for a freeze tonight so we just spent two hours draping fruit trees with plastic sheets and setting out buckets of hot water. Of course my apple trees decided to bloom out today of all days. Sigh.

Anyone need a roo or two? I have a silver spangled hamburg that needs a new home. He's beautiful. I'll try to post some pics later today. He and my dominate roo don't get along and he's kind of noisy for my backyard. But he's such a beauty, id rather rehome him, than eat him.

Its one thing to have infertile eggs. No one can guarantee that. Not even hatcheries will guarantee it. But they were saying these eggs were ripe, as in rotten. No one should be trying to sell rotten eggs.

The only thing I've found with outdated yogurt is that it becomes really really really tart after a while. I was taking a med that was giving me heart burn and I was in so much pain one night after taking it I called the on call nurse. They told me to eat some yogurt. But it was late at night...

What did you do in the garden today?

The blueberry looks like it has nitrogen burn to me. Too much fertilizer or raw compost?? But blueberries are my nemesis so I could be totally off. I've never had asparagus bud that quickly before. Are you in a drought situation or having exceptionally hot days?? That can throw off a plants...
