Guess what we found in the chicken run *UPDATE*

My son and 2 nephews once came home from walking around the block in our neighborhood with a white budgie. It was very weak and easy to catch. After a night in a cage with food and water, it was fiesty!

Ohhhh I just had Mulberry Pie...Mmmmm!

My brother and sister-in-law have a mulberry tree in their yard. The kids climb in it and pick the berries. They return to the house with purple faces and hands! I picked some and made a yummy cobbler this spring. We liked it better than the dewberries we also have around here. The mulberries...

    Naming your coop

I am working on my sign. My coop and run is going to be called "Cackleberry Cottage". We just returned from Fredericksburg, Texas. The main street has tons of fun shops. There was a shop called "Henfeathers". I thought that was a neat name!

Moral Conundrum -- The "Bartering Eggs For Coffee" WILL HAPPEN!

I admire trying to eat only locally grown foods. I support the local farmer's market when I can. But with a full-time job myself, I don't know how you do it.

    Visitor in the garden....

I live in a neighborhood on the edge of town. Behind my house is an area of scrub brush--weesatch, rosehedge with a few decent trees. We put a gate in our back fence to be able to retrieve children's toys. The gate has been left unlatched and we have had cows and horses get into our yard! We...

I'm with ya'll! We had a cooler than usual spring here in south Texas, but summer is here! It hasn't been too bad here yet. Low 90's with LOTS of wind! We tend to have high humidity!

I have been stung twice by scorpions---both times in my bed:ep. I took an antihistamine and applied ice and went back to bed. It did continue to throb a bit off and on the next day. It got me on the finger both times--no swelling though.

Yikes! I have an arbor with Native Wisteria just outside my chicken run. It is along their fence. I guess I better keep it trimmed out of their reach. I am soooo glad I came across this thread.

    The great Peep rescue

EEEEW under houses gives me the creeps. Spiders and snakes "shudder". But hearing babies crying makes us forget those things! Way to go Brianna! My son was freaking out when I had him helping me put baby bats back into the bathouse. (He is taller than me). My bat house is pretty much filled to...

Husband and i are not getting along.......

Hehehe! Mine barely spoke to me for a week after he discovered the coop (my brother brought it over while he was gone) and the chicks. He did, however, insist on re-leveling it.He is a stickler for things like that. He also helped me cement in the post for the run gate and he hung the...

Look What We Found :) (Pic Heavy)

Wow, So cool to get to see a turtle laying eggs. In our previous house, we had a small pond. We always knew when frogs were laying eggs in it, because they would be croaking loudly. Shortly, we would have tadpoles.

I have noticed fleas on our dogs too! I will be purchasing Frontline or Advantix tomorrow. I am glad to hear about the Borax. We don't have carpet in this house, but we had lots of trouble in our previous house. We are also finding ticks this year! I really hate that with the threat of Lyme's...
