My icelandic hen started brooding a couple of weeks ago. Last summer I hatched only her and one rooster out of many Icelandic hatching eggs, so I'm really hoping for chicks!

I'm excitedly awaiting my eggs, too! I have three Indian Runners who are hilarious but really high-strung; I've heard Cayugas are pretty mellow. I have turkey and coturnix quail in the incubator right now. I love spring!

Didn't realize that dogs eat chickens... will they be okay now or....?

My dog, a ten year old puggle who I've had for about four years, killed a friend's chicken before either of us knew what was happening. It was SO fast. That was about three years ago, and this spring I started hatching chickens. I assumed I'd have to keep him far, far away from the chickens...

Neighbor dog attacks and kills Miss Peach -- I'm so lost right now.

What a heartbreaking story! I'm so sorry for your loss, and for the trauma you went through. My heart goes out to you. My dog once got off lead and, in the blink of an eye, killed one of my landlord's young chickens. It was awful for all of us. I'm truly sorry.
