    I have ameraucanas and I have several hens 18 mos old who have lost all neck feathers and much of their head feathers. Its not molting season and no pecking issues. What should I look for?

    Do you ever get used to "putting down" a baby chick?

    So far I have not had a sick chick, but I did get one that could not stand up. I red about the rubber band method on the legs, but decided not to try. The babies (any baby) just breaks my heart. Had to put down one of our puppies once, and so I paid the Vet his $40. ;(

    I feel too guilty about doing this with my chicks. So, my Dogo Argentino (Argentine Mastiff) has absolutely no problem with this. So I simply hand the chick over and my big girl simply swallows. I probably should not post this, but I sympathize with your thoughts.

    Why not get a Pet Sitter? Get them to come in once a day to attend to feed and water - offer them eggs as a bonus!

    Another Rooster question

    I gave a Roo to my neighbors for their hens. They claim it took him a few weeks before he stated mating, so maybe he just needs some adjustment time.
