Hope everyone is enjoying their pre-Holidays madness!
I posted in the b/s/t area...but I figured that I would post here too since I prefer to purchase 'local' birds and have had excellent luck doing that in the past. If anyone has some ducklings or fertile duck eggs that they would like to...
Looking for some fertile duck eggs or, preferably, ducklings. Can be mixed-breed and I don't care what color they are. I would prefer someone in NC that can ship or that I can pick up from (if you are within reasonable distance). Thanks! =)
Happy Holidays!
I have 11 turken (Naked Neck) chicks that need new homes. They are super friendly (I've been handling them a lot) and will make good "pet" chickens. These are a large but docile breed, great layers or meat birds.
They are 1 - 3 days old, started on medicated crumble and are all doing well...
I have 10 Turken/Naked Neck chicks. They are started on medicated crumbles and are all doing well. Three are yellow, seven are black.
$5 each or take all of them for $40. PICK UP ONLY (though I am happy to meet you within a reasonable distance).
Do NOT hit "Buy it now". Please just PM...
I mistook this little guy for a guinea last night...but once I got it out of the incubator I realized that wasn't the case! It's super cute...but I have no idea what it is! It came from a round-ish white medium egg.
^.^ I was pretty happy! I gave them a nice treat for it all too in hopes they will continue this routine. Maybe they'll get a nice covered box upgrade if they comply! =P
First two chicken eggs today! ^.^ YAY!
I thought something was in the darn coop terrorizing the chickens because they were ALL making noise....even the guineas and the peafowl had joined in. I thought a snake had gotten in or something!
I'm currently using plastic crates as nesting boxes...
Okay...so...I have a question!
So...I post stuff that I have, and if someone wants it they say they want it, and then offer me something? What if I don't want what they are offering, can I say no (I've never SEEN anyone say no, so I didn't know if you could?)? And if I want something, do I...
I admit, I have only ever seen poultry shows at Fairs and am basing my opinion off that as a whole. It wasn't meant to be an offensive jab toward anyone who shows and I'm sure there ARE shows where people with healthy birds DO get together and higher standards are in place to ensure quality and...
See....my husband was trying to talk me into putting one of our Splash roosters in the fair..and all I could think of was how many other people might not take care of their birds the way we do? I'd be so upset if I brought home a sick bird because some jerk didn't take proper care of theirs...
I dunno about everyone else's...but I have a few guineas that I hatched myself and despite raising them and handling them the same as I do my chickens (who are all friendly, follow me around, and LOVE to be pet), they won't have anything to do with me (they'll come close but I can't touch them...
Good afternoon everyone! I haven't posted anything in a few days but I thought I'd share some pics of the morning hatch - because fluffballs are always something to smile about!
Too bad these little guys aren't for me. They are so cute! I've been spoiling them all morning.
And my jealous...
Thank you for the info.
As far as humidty, I have an incubator that tends to hold it's humidity a little TOO well sometimes (It'll go over 90+ and STAY there sometimes if I'm not careful aka: add too much water). I had planned to only add about half of what I did my first hatch since it...
I have a big trip coming up next week, I will be away for 5 days (leaving Thursday morning, returning Monday evening) and my hatch/lockdown dates fall right in the middle of it. What do I do?
I have turkey eggs due for hatch on Thursday, and Lockdown for guinea and chicken eggs are set to start...
I did post in the thread.
I could bring baked goods, I'm just not sure if people would really want them since it seems like a lot of people are bringing some along. I have a couple Guinea (not many, unfortunately), Amers, and some quail eggs that I certainly COULD part with, they have been...

I'm going to try to head to Chickenstock, yes....as well as drag some friends along who may have some nice pretty peachicks and/or eggs. Unfortunately, I have nothing to sell or trade myself (except money and I have this funny feeling it's going to escape my pocket if I go...), though...
I lived in S. FL for most of my life until I moved up to NC two and a half years ago... There are a few things to keep in mind about hurricanes (since some of you have asked). To me, hurricanes aren't a big deal..but I'm from climate and area that dealt with them contantly and was always...
