Here are my Halloween chicks. The bantam EEs and one Serama, (the black one...) Lots of blue in these EEs !
Their eyes are so big that my kids say, "they can read your every thought.."
Whoo Hoo! Got my computer issues worked out! Got my floor done! It turned out pretty good I think, for 80 year old clay tile. Family should be home Wednesday!
Here's the floor, (and Daisy), already with some smudgy pawprints on it after this last rain.
I have a buff silkie Roo....Suppose...
I do find they are calmer with a red light. I use a red color 25 watt bulb because the brooder is inside and small. I don't need an actual heat lamp. It would bake them. Also, when they are that age, they are still on a counter in my bird room and I walk through there constantly. You may have...
Thanks for the compliments. I haven't been able to be on here much. I just caught up on this thread, but the new one is going to take some time! I can't sit at my computer right now and am just using my kindle. While my family is gone to PA, I decided to restore our old saltillo file floor. I...
So far, I have refused to change my clocks..... I rebel every year, right up until I really screw something up. Kids and hub still in PA. Animals still go by the sun.....My jobs are based on deadlines not hours...It's all good
Here's the way my chicken math works....you can have twice as many bantams as lf, so fill it up with little chickens. When you realize they are over crowded, build a second and third coop. See?
Here's the Goblin Silkie mystery chick all fluffed up with his new buddy, a bantam EE. Another EE about to happen....
"When's he gonna hatch?" "I dunno. When do you think he'll hatch?"
And....The Halloween crew! They look like mischief don't they? D'Uccles truly have wonderful personalities. They all run up to the side of the brooder when they see me. Very curious.
Two millies
Golden neck, porcelain, millie, golden neck
My mystery egg pipped. This is the egg that was under a hen along with 20 something bad eggs. Could be any mix of Silkie, Hamburg, Serama. Most likely pure silkie though as they are dominant in that pen.
Here's my Halloween hatch so far! 7 d'Uccles, 2 bantam EEs and a Serama. One more Serama pipping, and then the rest of the eggs are not due for a few more days. Took out 4 d'Uccle eggs that died.
As long as you enjoy trying..you have another shipment coming from me. You are up against some odds though. How do I put this politely....I have no faith at all in those incubators. If you are sure that you have really good thermometers that you can trust, that's a great thing. Humidity, you...
I have 5 pips And chirping 4 d'Uccles and a bantam EE. I've had trouble with late losses in this incubator the last couple of go rounds and didn't have a lot of time to mess with it during this cycle, so I hope the hatch is decent. I know at least a couple out of the 23 looked like they gave...
