Look on the Naked Neck/Turken thread.
@kassandra & @Kev. Both have naked chickens and neatly naked chickens. Kassandra also have I'm not sure if they're totally FM or almost FM nakeds too. I don't think they have Banty though.
When I'm hatching out certain matings or wanting to know which run ( by rooster) I use those big I think they are a 3 quart size clear containers that strawberries come in. They have the air holes and work great. I put as many eggs that fit in them without too much crowding. I even use the...
Wow so many posts since I've looked. I will not try to read each one though.
So tomorrow is the dag for setting. It's very tempting to set some. But I really don't know where is put them. Stool got some four week olds in the brooder. They'd only be 7 weeks if I set these.
Thanks Ron. I think I remember now reading that before. I just have to reminded of the things from time to time.
I'm getting too old. I turned 53 today.
I've never got the hang of the feather sexing thing. I can never remember which way it is.
Then there is the thing about fast feathering and slow feathering, and I'm not sure if NN are fast or slow or maybe some of both.
Mine have done well during the winter. I lost more fully feathered birds than NN' s during this past winter. You know how cold it was.
I lost either two or three regular chickens and only 1 NN.
NN being 2 copies of the naked neck gene.
NN bring 1 copy
NN bring no copies.
NN x NN = 100% NN
NN x Nn = 50% NN + 50% Nn
Nn x Nn = 25% NN + 50% Nn + 25% nn (fully feathered)
NN x nn = 100% Nn
Nn x nn = 50% Nn + 50% nn (fully feathered)
Found this this morning. It explains it pretty good...
I bought some Red Dorking chicks once. I didn't care for them myself they were wild. Every time I walked into the run they'd go bazeerk and fly everywhere.
I hope you have good luck with yours and you like them. I think maybe it was just the line I got a hold of.
BTW: there was one...
I think the reason mine turned out 50 50 is because most of my flock have big bibs ( now ties) the gene code I think is NN meaning they are carrying only one gene for the naked neck. They being bred to other Nn ( big bibs) create approximately 75 % Naked Necks ( some of the babies will be Nn (...
We can make arrangements for you to get some eggs. Although I can't guarantee all will be NN as my flock isn't homozygous for the gene. Although this hatch has been approximately 1/2 and 1/2.
The eggs would be from several runs.
How many eggs you want?
I have a GQF cabinet type. It holds almost 300 eggs. I only set 201 this time. Actually this is the most eggs I've ever set at once.
Looks like I'll have quite a few to take to the sale barn on Satutday.
Here are 5 of the 27 Naked Necked chicks that have hatched so far.
It is a little dark but couldn't get a better shot. I'll get more pictures tomorrow.
I have a total of 54 pulled from the hatcher.
27 Naked Necked
27 fully feathered.
More still hatching.
Now I'll submit this then come back and edit it.

I'll try to explain it all if your interested, a littke later. Look through this thread and look at the pictures.
