Looking for easy/cheap roof ideas for run!!!

I haven't started mine yet, and mine aren't going to need to be cut. I'm not sure what the awnser to that would be. I did price the corrugated sheets out at just under $13 at home depot for a 2x8 sheet. $19 for the 12 foot ones. I was going to try to make a 2x4 creation on one side to sit over...

Quote: I used corrogated plastic on a dog run before, I took some 2x4's in the middle to support it from ice or heavy rain. It's pretty sturdy, and if you get clear PalRuf for it, it lets in light. Did you angle yours for run off? If not, does it do ok with the rain & snow?

Quote: Thanks so much for the additional pictures. You have a great setup there for your "many" girls. The leaves remind me of growing up in the mid west. We are surrounded by pine needles here:) I'll keep you posted on my solution!

Thanks imp and airheart43. I think if the cost is doable I'm going to try to go the same route as the two of you. It seems to be the easiest and most functional longterm. The pics really help. Thanks. As for the tin/rain sound, I wouldn't be able to bear it at all. I lived in a 30' travel...

Wow. If it's that strong it probably could be done with out an angle. My current tarp just sags into the chicken wire. Then a puddle forms in the middle of the run. Thanks for all your great suggestions!

Looking for easy/cheap roof ideas for run!!!

I appreciate it. The kennel is bolted into the coup and I have the chicken wire on top and any gaps zip tyed in place. So, I would prefer not to move it and work from the top. Aren't the dog panels heavy for the top? How did you secure it? I guess I'm gonna have to price out the corragated...

Quote: My husband suggested hay, but I read that post about the surgery on the hen with all that hay that was removed and it kindof scared me. Will most hens eat hay? Oops, forgot to ask. Are we talking hay or straw?

Quote: I think that would work if I can get it to rest/attach securely to the kennel top.

Thanks everyone! I like the pallet idea. I actually have a bunch of scrap wood which I had considered trying to build a frame like creation much like a pallet to rest on the top of the kennel. Thanks for the pics mtnhomechick. I would just have to figure out how to angle it for run off...

Looking for easy/cheap roof ideas for run!!!

My run is a 7x14 dog kennel covered with chicken wire. I currently have half tarped for rain. My problem is that Western WA rain has hit and half my run is a mucky mess, and the other covered half is damp. My feather footed birds are a mess. I really want to cover the whole thing. I will...
