Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. I don't live in the best kept neighbor hood so there are plenty of places for an urban raccoon to live undisturbed.
Well, there was only one this time. Cat sized so probably a baby from this spring's births. Usually we'll only see one at a time out here. At least I've only seen one at a time.
Wish I had a video. We've tried to trap the coon before, I think it's time to hide on the roof with a ....... shovel...... I'm warning my neighbors to keep their cats inside, gonna try the trap again with some wet and dry cat food.
I don't want it dragged out either. Many people have strong, valid thoughts about guns and gun control. I think if mandatory gun safety/usage training were a thing more people would be comfortable with concealed carry. I'm not comfortable with it because I know that people like me who don't know...
Exactly, I wonder if the same people who are always on the cop's side in a shoot first ask questions later situation would feel the same way if "the good guy" were shot along with "the bad guy".
I don't disagree. I know that most of my own discomfort with hand guns is from not being raised around them at all. My brothers got BB guns when I was a kid and they promptly started shooting each other with them. They were then made to destroy the guns and that was the end of guns in my mom's...
I only suspected because of the eye bubbles. but I don't know if they would appear with any kind of swelling, or if a virus or bacteria would have to be present for the bubbles to appear. The swelling happened over the period of an hour after the attack, I would think it would take longer for a...
That would also be on the agenda, though I am more likely to reach for a rifle or shotgun. They are far more comfortable to me than handguns are even with my lack of training.
Um, I caught the raccoon in the coop and chased it away. It had killed one hen and partially eaten it. When I first found the boy his face wasn't swollen and all the blood was fresh bright red and dripping.
I did not know those things, thanks!!!
I saw the raccoon in the run, once it saw me it worked on escaping, sadly it tore a hole in the roof before my husband and his.....shovel....could make it outside.
My biggest worry really is the eye bubbles and swelling. I am sure it's just from the...
No drugs yet, the swelling only really started in the last hour or so. I will separate him for rest. I don't even know how I would ice his face.
No more vet visits for my chickens as per my husband's demands. Otherwise I would be there already. :-(
Lovely chicken friends. I have a Bielefelder Cockerel, who in his bid to save our flock from a raccoon, suffered many face lacerations. None were immediately life threatening but in the last 2 hours his face has swollen immensely.
1) I assume this is normal and not a sign of hidden respiratory...
