If they are Australorps, it's an even better deal. Australorps are regular layers long past their prime. And as a bonus some may lay through the winter and some may go broody, allowing you to hatch or raise chicks without an incubator or brooder.
They won't be as prolific as younger hens, but they should still turn out big brown eggs for you on a fairly regular basis. You may get 3 to 5 eggs a week from each.
